Mid Week Update Part 1
I am very tired.
Well, my cell and I went for campus E on tuesday! It was so encouraging I tell you. When we met for the "briefing" on tues evening, most of us were scared because it was our first time doing evangelism on the campus. After Jolene led a short prayer, we went out in pairs! Poor michael had to be alone though! Jeannette and I walked around the North Spine for about 10 mins. Until we finally settled for someone... We shared the gospel with her through a survey that Jolene prepared for us. She was quite opened with the gospel... but she said she was satisfied with her faith in another religion... But no worries, we sowed a seed. And we moved on.
We saw this chinese girl studying and approached her. She couldn't understand the survey because she didn't understand english (she is an exchange student from china). So both of us thought it was an excellent opportunity to share the gospel with her in chinese! BUT, the only chinese words we could make out were Jesus and The Cross. SIGH. It was such a humbling experience because we thought we knew everything, but actually we don't. We were a little upset but we moved on.
We approached another lady who was sitting alone. She wanted to do the survey, but she said "It is possible if you speak mandarin with me? My english is not good." Both of us stared at each other and replied, "Sorry, our mandarin is not that good either." We wasted two opportunities just like that, just because we were not fluent in our chinese! Both of us agreed that we should buck up on our basic christian terms in chinese, so we can reach out to these people.
Although we had to "report" back, we decided to try for one more person. This time round, this girl was really opened to the word. She has never heard the gospel before. So you see the immediate response on our faces... we were ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTED. We shared the gospel with her and she said "Thank you for sharing with me." She has questions about christianity and we promised to keep in contact with her and answer her queries. She said she is really busy now preparing for the exams. Well, do pray with us for this precious soul. :)
Then we went back to meet the rest. It was so encouraging to hear their stories. I was very excited actually. There was so much joy within my heart I wanted to tell someone about it. I immediately mailed cx about it even though I needed to go to the toilet urgently then. Haha.
All in all, God was really encouraging! And I wouldn't mind doing it again! All for the glory of God!
