Focus.
I enjoyed today's sermon, by Pastor Daniel Chua from Conerstone Church (I think). He preached about FOCUS and whao.. It really spoke to my spirit. Especially in this time of my life... Timely message.
My take home points:
- How we feel is determined by our subjective focus.
- Our internal attitude is more important than our external circumstances.
- We see what we are looking for - as human beings, we tend to see the negatives but we need to learn to see the POSITIVES.
- Be a WORSHIPPER in ALL circumstances, not a complainer.
- Learn to give thanks to God in ALL circumstances. For thanksgiving unlocks the presence of God.
So true. So true.
Earlier this week (and late last week), I was on the complaining mode. My attitude towards things that went wrong was nothing more than sucky. I was upset and disappointed. Joey reminded me to look at things in perspective and stop complaining, but have a positive attitude because we cannot control circumstances. However, we can control how we RESPOND to the situation.
I learned over the week that when I learned to give thanks to God for what has happened, and go through the problems with an open spirit, a spirit of learning, the problems were SO small.
I learned also that I run on encouragements. Who doesn't? We should not be stingy with our encouragements... We should see the effort that someone has put in and not the mistake that the person has made.
"Count it ALL JOY, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you my be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing." James 1:2-4
These series of unfortunate events was nothing short of a time of learning, a period of maturing and a season of moulding. HEEHEE.
