Whooo! I survived the sports camp! Commonly known as the Most Tiring, Most "Cheong", Most "Heong", Most "shag", Most Fun, Most Exciting... Dirtiest, Craziest.. etc camp in NTU! I am so glad had a chance to be a participant of the camp. There are just so many things to say. But you wouldn't be able to fully understand what we've gone through unless you experience it yourself! Listening to / reading my stories wouldn't fully bring out my inner most feelings. Welll, to start it all off, we only had an average of 3 hours of sleep per day. The activities are just packed to the brim! No breaks, no rest.
We had our first meeting on the 22nd of July at Sky Garden last Saturday. There and then we met our orientation groups and the other 3 groups that made up a WORLD. I was in Disney World- where everyday is a festival. The other worlds met at different places. There was Toons World which symbolises: Live and Play; Live to Play. Music World which means your world of so many talents. And Sea World which represents a voyage of many friendships.
Anyway, this is just a gist of what I have gone through:
Day One:
- Meeting Time: 3.30pm. Group dinner. Group grocery shopping to get the welfare items such as strepsils, Pi Pa Gao, Vitamin C, Honey, Plasters, Alcohol Swipes, Aloe Vera Gel, Sun Block.... etc.
- Universe gathering at NTU's Sports and Recreation Centre (SRC). Universe gathering meaning ALL the 4 worlds unite.
- Walked all the way to Hall 12 for the opening ceremony. Super Cool. Fire balls slided down the building to light up the structure. =)
- Made our way to the Function Hall for various performances put up by the seniors of the different worlds.
- Ice Breakers. (They made guys and girls do funny stuff... like piggy back, lick chocolate off on both sides of a piece of tracing paper... blah blah. Quite funny)
- War games. I mean really WAR. The guys had to form a wall to protect the girls of the same world... Then the girls of the other world will try to break the wall by pulling, scracthing.. The protected girls have to in turn protect the guys by pushing the other opponents away from the guys. Soooo... what was the outcome? Breathless people with lots of cuts and bruises.
Day Two (start of the hungry ghost festival):
- Field Activities 1. Go to different stations to play games with other groups
- Pool Activities in the afternoon.
- Off to Old Changi General Hospital for Fright Night. Whaooo... this was one of the main highlights of the camp! I mean which idiot would go to OCGH on the first day of the hungry ghost festival? Even though I know God has overcomed evil, and He who is in me is greater than he who is in the world, the thought of visiting a haunted place cast shivers down your spine!
Basically, there were 20 station altogether. All the participants were involved in a Murder Scene. There was a controller who would bring us to the various stations. So we just had to follow him around the hospital. We are like investigators trying to solve the mystery of the murder of one of the famous Chopstick Sisters- Xiang Xiang. So at each station, there was acting. These acting would lead you to the clue of who killed who... Some stations were interactive, some were not. Interactive stations meant that you can communicate with the actors to get clues. Non- interactive stations meant that you just had to observe the actors/ acteresses. I tell you, the seniors are super good actors la! And at every station, someone will jump at you in attempt to scare you! After every station, we will be place in a DARK room known as the holding area. At this holding area, the group is supposed to discuss what we have just seen and decipher who the possible murderers could be. Soooo Coool! Kudos to the organisers.
Day 3:
- Hiking along Bukit Timah Hill (station activities again)
- Followed by cycling in one of the tough terrains over at the CCK area.
- Went back to campus for night activities
- Seemingly the most boring day of all
Day 4:
- Made our way to Pasir Ris Park in the morning for the sea activities.
- Canoed all the way to one island for a coconut drink
- Canoed all the way back to the coast.
- We did banana boat, jet skiing, sailing, wind surfing. SOoooooo FUN!
- War games in the night again. The battle between the Worlds
- At around 11 plus, we made our way to East Coast Park to collect our bicycles.
- We did night cycling! I lost track of time becuase I was really sleepy. We cycled from East Coast all the way back to school (in BOON LAY). Exhuasting! OUr first stop was at the war memorial at city hall. Second stop was at harbour front. 3rd and last stop was at west coast park. 4th short stop was at lakeside mrt station.
- I remember I only got to sleep for 1 hour that day.
Day 5:
- Field activities 2. Introduction to various sports groups in NTU. So we got to try out certain sports such as In-line hockey, Floor ball, Scuba-Diving, Archery, Frisbee...
- We had Amazing Race in the afternoon all through the day. Completed about 6 stations around Singapore. This was only PART 1.
- My team came in 10th.
- Slept in tents at East Coast Park
Day 6:
- Continuation of Amazing Race PART 2
- Ran all over Singapore again. (ohhh! and I got to try the cable SKI!)
- Hitched a ride on a LORRY. something to remember as well. we never knew there were kind people around.
- When we finally completed the whole race, my team came in 3rd!
- In the evening, we mad our way back to changi beach for Starry Starry Night. Where you spend time (dinner) with your secret partner. Super funny. Seniors forced the couple to hold hands, made the guys carry the girls.. blah.. All for the sake of fun! So since we are all sporty people, we just do whatever we've been asked to do. Poor guys.
- Then there was dancing. (which I totally didn't enjoy. So my "secret partner" and I just sat down and talked about NJ cos he was my senior! heh)
Day 7:
- This was the highlight of the whole camp. The Grand Finale.
- It was crazy..
- We were being stretched beyond our limits.
- I remember running and pulling and climbing and more running and stepping on guys...
- Very hard to blog about it. Cos there is a lot to say!
- Built two sedans. One for the girls to carry, another for the guys to carry, each with a girl on top... Swim for 50m.. Run up a flight of steps (never ending).. Run through the canal, Mud crawl on the back.. Climb up a vertical wall.. climb down the wall.. Pull yourself across a lake.. Girls have to pull the guys on the tyre.. Guys have to pull all the girls on the lorry up slope... running and more running.... So tiring yet so fun.
I can't believe I only paid 50 bucks for the camp. This is one of the most memorable camp ever! I am missing it already. However, these 9 days have zapped all my energy away, and I am starting to lose my focus on God! HOW~!!?? too much fun already!
it was recorded.
