Colossians 3:23

"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.."

I've been discouraged by my cell ministry the past semester. I've been pretty affected by it. I was reminded about my ministry when I played the LIFE game during the retreat. I remembered going through the motions of LIFE with no purpose and direction. All I wanted to do was to complete the tasks that was intended during that period of the game. Then, I was reminded about my ministry, whether I was doing it for God, or whether I was doing it for myself. I thought to myself whether I'm in the ministry for the sake of being in the ministry... So I talked to Andrea then, about my struggles and all... And we concluded that I should focus on God and not on the works...

Yesterday, at YA CL meeting, we shared about our struggles in cell... And I shared about this too... Then Joseph prayed and reminded me once again that I should focus on God and not on men.

Today, at CAMY DG, Johann shared on the topic on "Where to Worship". He mentioned that one of the places we worship is our world. My world revolves around school, ministry and family. I realised that I've been so caught up in chasing "my dream cell", comparing myself with others, so much so that I lost sight of God.. that I lost the whole purpose of it all.. and that is to worship Him and serve Him. Hence, this verse stood out among the rest.

Over ice cream at Haigen Daz today with cheryl and timothy, we were just sharing randomly about the works of God, about ministry... Tim shared about a friend who has been faithful in serving God. This person calls up the cell members, conduct cell lessons, meet up with his cell members.. so on and so forth.. but end up being burnt out.. That friend was burnt out because he was just going through his checklist (going through the motion), losing the whole purpose of it all.. I think I've fallen into that many times... and we may slip into it when we're so overwhelmed by work... SO, it reminded me once again that if I don't dwell in God's presence and know Him and have an ongoing relationship with him, no matter how much effort I put into doing something out of my own strength and ability, nothing is going to work out...

The insights I gathered on these occasions were all similar... So, I learned that I should always always always fix my eyes on God, fix my eyes on what is eternal...

NOOOOOOO!

My mummy and daddy are out of town. They went on a holiday. Haaa.. It was quite sudden cos my dad only decided on this 2 weeks ago. And today, they left for china! I don't know which part though.

And I'm screaming NOOOOOOO!!!!!!

NO to the housework! I am expected to keep the house clean and tidy. I am expected to do the laundry (wash and hang and fold). Hanging the laundry is a chore mann. The bamboo stick keeps falling off the ceiling whenever I try to get it down. URGH. NOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Just now (11ish), my kor called me to scold me while I was still out. He asked me where I was and why I am not home yet. heehee. This shows that he cares. Awwww...

True disciples are transformed... and invest in the word of God.

Tummy Upset!

I had fever on thursday night.
I felt absolutely normal on friday.
My throat started to itch on friday night. I was extremely thirsty.
I coughed the whole night on friday.
I managed to survive saturday afternoon.
I felt weak in the evening.
Tummy started churning on sat night.
Went to see the doctor on Sunday morning.
Managed to survive the morning.
But the tummy went "mad" over lunch.
Rushed home after my EA meeting.
I was down with fever on Sunday afternoon.
I'm on MC today (monday).
I felt absolutely normal in the morning.
But my stomach went "crazy" again in the afternoon... SIGH.

I am only allowed to eat plain porridge and erm, chai xin.
My mum gave me AN egg for dinner and it was the BESTEST egg, ever. haha.

Up Up Up The Flyer...

We took the Singapore flyer on monday (17th June)... At about 6.30pm. I think it's one of the best timings cos we get to see Singapore bright, and Singapore gloomy. heh. (but we missed the sun set though, don't know where it disappeared to). I got quite giddy when it moved upwards and I looked downwards. hurhur.

The view was fantastic. I guess, experiencing it once enough will do. :)

I am stumbled!
Do we worship God or do we worship our music?
Do we worship music more than we worship God?

-a question that needs to be reviewed every time I'm on duty-

I am affected by bad music as well. I cant worship if the music is bad. As musicians, we are supposed to lead others into worship. But if this basic role cannot be fufilled, then something must be really wrong somewhere. On the other hand, I think that we should focus on God and give benefit of doubt?

I don't know how else to put it... But because I'm only a keyboardist, I'm not a music director or a steward, I fall into the category of "the people who will most probably make mistakes". I know how it feels when we make a mistake (mistakes are definitely inevitable, who in the world makes a mistake intentionally?). I don't know where the balance is... cos there's a thin line between being excellent in all you do and being perfect in what you do.

Oh wells.. things happen for a reason... I definitely learned a new lesson today. If something is bothering you, lay it all at the altar before you serve... Cos if you don't, you are bound to get distracted. If the heart is not there, then there's no need to talk about worshipping in spirit and in truth.

Back Dated - Cheryl Chia's 21st

That very afternoon, my mum made dumplings for lunch. YUMMY. Red Wine with Dumplings and fantastic company. One of my happiest lunch ever (EVER). I was beaming when they actually talked to each other and joked with each other. After that, I went for retreat rehearsal at G2. Then I made my way to Cheryl's house to have a little chat with her before the rest of the fantabic clique arrived.

Preeettyy preetty. I love this pic!

My JC classmates.

I helped cheryl to cutthe cake. I'm getting pro at this. HAHA.

xtin!

I am half a head taller than my friends.

Joey and I went to catch Kung Fu Panda at Causeway point after that. It was hilarious!
"Master Sheee-fu" and Master "Wuuuu- Guuui"

I will keep praying... I've seen how good God has been. I know I will have to let go eventually. But for now, I am still struggling...

Lunch Time

My lunch is at the weirdest hour. 2-3pm. Most people consume their lunch between 12-2pm. So that means, I always eat lunch alone (haha. What a loser right! I buy lunch up to office. ) In my current workplace, the 3 of of have staggered lunch hours because someone needs to be in the office at any point in time. So that means we can't eat together.

Anyway, my mum joined me for lunch today. Bought her "Lor Mee" because she wanted to eat it. After lunch, we wanted to go shopping. But my dad called. He said he wanted to drink coffee. So he met us (my dad's office is one street across mine) for coffee. Heh. Funny how I'm still a little girl in my dad's eyes. After being exposed to stories of friends/people I know I am very blessed and I WILL treasure my family...

It's Wednesday!

it's scary how time flies. (sometimes, not all the time)
it's results day tomorrow. Results will be out at 12 am later. I reckon the server will be jammed at 12am later so I've decided not to check it later tonight. I don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight. I'll probably toss and turn in bed, thinking about it... I leave the results up to God.. I just pray that I'll be prepared to receive the results...

I went out with Drea and Zhi on monday. We went to Central to utilize my Taglio card which I pruchased it at $30. It was worth it. Right? :) $3 each for a plate of pasta, 8 slices of pizza and one bottle of Root Beer.
I showed them the book over dinner. heh. :) After which we bought Azabu Sabu (however you spell it) ice cream and sat by the riverside to talk and watch the G-Max Swing and the G-Max (reverse bungee). Both of them are super aminated. haha. I REALLY WANT TO TRY THE SWING! I think my heart will just drop mann. Anyway, I love simple hang outs like that, no frills - Just meet to chill out.. (thanks for the company!)

I heard a story of a dysfunctional family on monday as well. And it really made me realised realise how blessed I am. It's really encouraging to see how she even managed to move on with life and lead a "normal" life. Sometimes it's good to expose myself to such stories. I've been protected so much all my life and I always thought life is a bed of roses. Her story, as dramatic as it sounded, is true and it really made me think about the things that I go through in life. When I heard her story, I think about the times get frustrated with my parents for nagging at me. And it made me realise that it's a blessing to have them nagging at me, than not having them around at all. Perspective, perspective, perspective.

I went out with cons, clar and lyon yesterday. We ate 20 xiao long baos @ Ding Tai Fung! MAD i tell you. I missed hanging out with you guys for the past 3 weeks! AH! :)

Tomorrow, tomorrow, i love you, tomorrow, you're only a day away..

From The Inside Out
Hillsong United

A thousand times I've failed
Still your mercy remains
And should I stumble again
Still I'm caught in your grace

Everlasting, Your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending, Your glory goes beyond all fame

In my heart, in my soul, Lord I give you control
Consume me from the inside out Lord
Let justice and praise become my embrace
To love You from the inside out

Your will above all else, my purpose remains
The art of losing myself in bringing you praise

Everlasting, Your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending, Your glory goes beyond all fame
In my heart, in my soul, Lord I give you control
Consume me from the inside out Lord
Let justice and praise become my embrace
To love You from the inside out

Everlasting, Your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending, Your glory goes beyond all fame
And the cry of my heart is to bring You praise
From the inside out Lord, my soul cries out

_____________________________________
This song has never been so apt ever since Pastor's message on Saturday.
Pastor Ronald preached on "What kind of disciple are you?" on Saturday and well, it left a lasting impression on me. We know that we are disciples of Christ, but the question here is "What kind of disciple am I really?"
True disciples go through the narrow gate.
True disciples bear fruits, a basket of fruits.
True disciples are motivated by something deep within themselves and not by the accomplishments of outward adornments.

And Matt 7:21 says "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven."
So it kind of made me self evaluate my service to God... I don't want my serving in ministry be a outward thing, but I want it to be something that comes from within... A passion from the heart... Sometimes, there's a danger of falling into the trap of loving the gift (the ministry) so much, that you forget about the giver (God).
So Lord, consume me from the INSIDE-OUT.
